Having been brought up in a financially disadvantaged background by their mother (a widow) only worked out to their one-time achieving their dream. The family -which neither had any reliable source of income nor particular know-how for their education had to undergo so much ado to fend for itself and ensure just elementary education for the five (5) girls. At first, it seemed like another “Hopeful Dream” to ever attain high school education. Thanks to one-kind-hearted well wisher whose support brought back hope to these young girls and ensured that dreams of these bright sisters became a reality. At the moment, all of them have been able to successfully complete their high school education and in fact one of them managed to go to college and graduated with a diploma in Community Development & Social Work. She is to spearhead our program as far as community development is concerned: one of the most involving activity in any social-community-related service.
In deed HAGEP is just the best way the five sisters would wish to give back to their society. Connecting with the bright girls from the poor backgrounds some of them had been brought up widened their scope and they were able to see the need for education in the lives of everyone.
To someone out there, this would sound absurd especially in the environment where the girl-child has received all the odds supported by culture. However, for anyone willing and is ready to walk along with “her” (the beneficiary) “all the way up the education ladder” would receive this as another good news. As the old saying goes “Educate a girl and you educate the whole society”. Who knows, these young girls might end up being the best doctors, teachers, lawyers, businesswomen and so on. Just like any other child of the society, such girls would also wish to be in such places and hold those positions. Not to mention that one of the five sisters is an assistant project coordinator in a private company based in Nairobi (and she is doing very well). This should only prove that anything is possible.
HAGEP believes that if we would secure enough resources and other grants from well wishers/donors, friends and relatives, we will be in position to extend our work far to the fellow needy girls in our rural home, and help them realize their potentialities. This could reawaken back their dreams. We intent to get rid of ‘bad’ cultures and also help reduce poverty, crime, early marriages and girl child abuse that has been rampant among the uneducated girls and still paves way for more scenes.
We also believe that in supporting higher education, the girls are empowered thus enabling them train in various careers of their choice that shall in turn strategically position them in job markets and help them make a decent living not just for themselves but also for their families. This will mark the beginning of transformation as we wish to see this world better placed especially for the girls to live in. This applies to all those who believe in girls’ empowerment. Our support is extended to all those girls who qualify both academically and intellectually irrespective of
their races, ethnicity or religious affiliations in Lurambi constituency.

One of the Local School!
Pupils from a school where we picked the first girl to support! In fact, it is from the visitation to this school that ignited the idea of the founding a program that will continue to support these young girls and keep them safe from the snares of this world. HAGEP in its entirety is dedicated to seeing the hopes of these little girls shine and blossom into maturity. Let us all join in hands and together see off this project.

Our Core Values:
Owing to reports in the first
phase of our survey (conducted for a period two years between 2010-2012), it was
so clear that more than one hundred thousand (which translates as much as five
million throughout the forty seven counties in Kenya) girls are affected in one
way or another by either cultural beliefs or lack of financial resources do not
have access to formal education, 70% (seventy per cent) of whom were displaced
within their own counties during and after the 2007-2008 post election violence
(PEV)scenario. Such findings highlight enormous and urgent needs and
underscore the crucial importance of providing education for children fleeing
persecution, armed conflict and other forms of violence.
As a non-governmental organization, we are set to traverse all boundaries of ethnicity, race and culture to reach our goals of saving the world that lay bare in the hands of these poor young girls. Our main aim is to reach out to all girls whose hopes seem to have been demeaned. We too hope to reach out to forcibly displaced persons (immediate neighbors of our project location) and ensure the sustainability of our project through local and international support.
We intent to offer a wealth of diverse services in accordance with our mission to accompany serve and defend everyone’s cause by offering financial, training skills and any other support: moral, spiritual and material. The provision of education stands out as a fundamental characteristic of our mission. This we intend to achieve in various ways. Our workers value a learning-based approach because they firmly believe it affirms the humanity of the female gender just as it does with the opposite with the aim of restoring their wounded dignity. For HAGEP, education means planting 'seeds of hope' in the insecure and traumatic presence of so many women languishing in poverty and ignorance: from the family woman in captivity of her notorious husband's reproaches to the little young girl whose innocence and intrigues are often defiled a million-fold in the quest to seek value of life. It would be rather in order for such a girl to walk for hours each day to go to school and obtain that necessary element than to fall prey of the societal injustices. The urgent need rather is to be fed by this hope and affirmation- which is one and the same.
